Principles before personalitiesWhen I frequented a group of friends with whom we exchanged very personal words, in total frankness the speaker, and with great respect from the auditors. We had all previously accepted a sort of rule: "The principles come before the personalities". By "principle" we meant something of the order of the concept; morale or morality had no place here. We were there to restore reason and vitality to our being, not to pass judgment.
The relationship with painting?I realized that from the moment I am focused on the meaning I want to give a painting, it becomes detrimental that questions of style or communication be presented to my mind. It is the moment when only the influences that I assume can reappear on my canvas that they share with my intentions and my creative energy.
Yet what strength do the conditioning of childhood, the schooling in which I have to prove -against sanction- that all knowledge, without my having asked for it, has been well inculcated, rooted and printed in a way as indelible as possible. Thus beneficiaries profiting from the governing society make sure of the profit realized for them by the work of the well-educated masses.
It works well, especially if you have a certain dissuasive force (police, army, previous generations, "consenting" contemporaries). Same for art schools ...

I do not wag the black flag. I am just trying to show the unconscious power at work within me under the well-chosen name of "superego."
Thus, at the worst, failures arise, at best the "schools" and the -isms, so much so that it is true that the human lives in a pack, sees itself in the other, exists by absorption.
Let's open the parenthesis "("Turner painted as master Claude → the 18th century applauded, the 21st sigh compassed, image 2: Turner painted what he felt during a snowstorm attached to the mast of the steamer Victoria → the 18th century is gaussing, the 21st admires; image 3: Turner crunches compensatory and pornographic subjects (it's long study trips for a lonely male) → the 18th century throws them at the stake, retaining only a few as testimonies of his senile degeneration, the 21st admires, exposes and shows the precocity of Turner announcing Courbet (Origin of the world), Degas and others, prophesied by Fragonard!
Let's close the parenthesis ")"Yes, we are conditioned. By our gregarious nature first and the dominant culture to clog the missing parts then and put a layer of varnish. We are then very polite.
It is thus even before birth. What to do? Everyone has to see what he wants for himself, knowing that freedom often pays for itself in money of loneliness, incomprehension, a hardly tribal fame. The reputed "crazy" have for their part an art which is so crude, so unlike anything else, from raw art to the art of brutes ... I leave you the conclusion.
Cursed, you believe? Maybe they just managed to live outside the system. The latter does not have to promote it. The best fruits do not need to go on TV to be savored. In the same way, there is the artist, the work, and those who benefit from it, on the occasion of an encounter, in the course of a meal or a conversation. They will be able to arrange themselves between them without auctioneer (aren't they impressive, raised on a pedestal, judge's hammer in hand?)
Only individual affinities will guarantee the value of a painting; No ratings, no catalogs or hype. Silence, aesthetic and/or spiritual emotion. Silence again. And then the agreement and the transfer, perhaps momentary, of the work in other ties. Magnificent. We think we're dreaming. Utopia. Utopia? Maybe not. See you in a few months, if you will. I will explain my project, its concretization, its reception.
Thank you for your attention.
